I’ve got to hand it to the people at Bukkit. They do a great job of keeping on top of the ever updating Minecraft.
I also have to give a shout out to the people making plugins for Bukkit. There are some very creative plugins out there.
Here are a few that Austin and I use in our server.

This is a really great plugin to add a basic economy to your server. Fully customizable, you can control how much money people start off with in your server. You can control what your money is called, in our server a Jibber represents and dollar and a Snerk represents the cents.
So you can have in your account say: 30 Jibbers and 60 Snerks.

Jobs:
To add to having an economy , we also have jobs in our server. This plugin is also customizable . You can create jobs and name them whatever you want. In our server we have; Miner, builder, fisherman, hunter, merchant and weapons smith.
You can customize the rates of pay and experience, plus the levels and experience needed to level up in that job. Leveling up gives you a higher rate of pay per task.
You can join up to three jobs in our server at the moment, But I am thinking of implementing a rule where each person on the server has to choose a profession and then be placed in the permissions group that will be in the relation of their profession. Meaning that if you want to be a builder you will need to be in the builder group.
I think by doing this it will add a more realistic feel to the economy we are creating. People will need to rely on the merchant for their goods and the builders to build their homes ect. Hunters and fisherman can sell their game to local shops, weapons smiths can sell their goods to the appropriate categories and so on.
Permissions Ex:
This is a great permissions plugin allowing you to create various groups and add users to those groups. You can give the groups whatever permissions you feel that they should have. Very customizable and easy to use.
Chestshop:
This plugin allows players with the proper permissions to create shops using signs and chests. You stock the chest with the appropriate goods and add a sign telling other users what you are selling for how much and how many they will receive at said price.
Admins on the server can create what is called an admin shop, there is no chest required and the stock is infinite. However, for some reason the “free” option on this plugin has some bugs that I am trying to figure out. At this time you cannot create and Admin Shop giving things away for free.
Lockette:
This plugin is a dream , You can create chest and door locks by simply placing a sign above a door or on or around a chest, keeping other players out and only letting select few in.
You can have a builder build you a house and slap a [private] sign above the door which prevents others , except admins into your home. You can add additional lines to allow other players into your home by adding their name to the sign. It also prevents griefing as no one can enter or destroy your home.
Ancasino:

This needs updated to version 1.1 , if it hasn’t been already. I have not checked lately. We had this in our last server and it worked great before the updates. You could create casinos with slot machines that actually worked. This was also customizable in a lot of ways. You could set the winnings and the entry fees. It built a general structure of the slot machine that you could finish however you chose. It was a great way to keep the economy flowing and take some money from the players who were making way too much!
That’s about all the plugins we are using as of now. I have plans to use a few more in the near future, I am waiting to work out the last few kinks in the ones I have up and running now.

Modify or delete the contents of your USB storage:
Allows the app to write to the USB storage.
Precise location (GPS and network-based):
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.
Prevent device from sleeping:
Allows the app to prevent the device from going to sleep.
